Best eateries and cafes in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is famous for a long list of things, the beautiful canals, the red light district, Anne Franks house, but the one thing I took away from my trip was the amazing food it has to offer. The Netherlands has some of the best cuisines in Europe, from bitterballen to stroopwafel to the thick dutch fries, my taste buds were tingling for the whole of my trip.
One of the best cafes I went to while in Amsterdam was Lunch cafe Dialoog. Situated right next to Anne Franks house, after an hour taking in the history of the museum the cosy cafe next door and their delicious croissants and toasties went down a treat. The service was very quick and with every purchase the lovely man behind the till gave you the wifi password, so I was able to update my instagram while tucking into my amazing lunch.
There are so many options available to you for restaurants and dining on the busy streets of Amsterdam. Now Italian food is my favourite food and even though it isn't a dish associated with the Netherlands, we went to one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. Steakhouse Italians restaurant is where I ate my body weight in pizza and garlic bread.
Omelegg City Centre was Egg-cellent!! Although we had to queue to get in it wasn't long and it was totally worth it. All omelettes come with bread and a side salad and there is a range of fillings to choose from. If you're not a fan of omelettes there is also other breakfast and lunch options to choose from.
If you want to try the dutch classics, why not try Haesje Claes. They have traditional mains and desserts and it is open 7 days a week. Located opposite Amsterdam Museum and Begijnhof, a 1400's women religious community, the restaurant is slightly pricey, but it’s easy to get to and very enjoyable food.
Every street you walk down in Amsterdam has a variety of food to offer, from cosy cafes to Michelin standard restaurants. But if you find yourself wondering and get a bit peckish, avoid the cookies!!!!
